National Association of Realtors® changes ethics rules-No Bigots allowed-Even when Off-Duty.
If you are a Realtor®, then you are now subject to an ethics rule prohibiting the use of harassing language or hate speech toward any of the protected classes referred to in Article 10 of the National Association of Realtors® Code of Ethics. This new expanded set of rules even applies to your conduct outside of your real estate related activities.
Article 10, Standard of Practice 10-5 now states the following:
“Realtors must not use harassing speech, hate speech, epithets, or slurs based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity.”
This policy went into effect on November 13, 2020.
